If you live in the Farmington and Legacy Parkway area, you might have noticed some major construction activity since February 26th. That is UDOT (Utah Department of Transportation) working on their West Davis Project.
West Davis is a new 16-mile, 4-lane divided highway that will be constructed in western Davis County between the I-15/Legacy Parkway junction at approximately Glovers Lane in Farmington and extending northward to the future extension of S.R. 193 in West Point. A map of the project alignment is available on the project website: westdavis.udot.utah.gov.
From Spring 2021 to Winter 2024, the UDOT West Davis Project team will coordinate closely with residents, businesses, city leadership, and other key stakeholders. design work, utility coordination, clearing and grubbing, and Right-of-Way acquisition and preparation to actively construct the West Davis area.
With more people flocking to Utah than ever before, by 2040, the number of homes in western Davis and Weber counties is estimated to substantially increase by 65%. The West Davis Project will help address the growing population and meet future transportation needs and alleviate potential travel delays in the area as the population increases. From their $800 million budget, you can expect significant changes and a more efficient commute once the project is completed.
Grade-separated interchanges will be built at Legacy/I-15 (Farmington), 950 North (Farmington), 200 North (Kaysville), 2700 West (Layton), 2000 West (Syracuse), and Antelope Drive (Syracuse). For bike and trail enthusiasts, West Davis will include over 10 miles of new trail and new trail connections to create a consolidated trail system connecting Emigration Trail to Legacy Parkway Trail.
Residents can expect additional construction vehicle traffic on local roads and construction equipment to mobilize for this activity. Be aware if you live in the area that possible noise and dust impacts can also be expected. This work will continue over the next several weeks.
